GE Partners with VolkerStevin to Deliver Rotary Frequency Converter to Royal Navy

GE announced that it will partner up with VolkerStevin Ltd. to provide solutions for the Defence Infrastructure Organization (DIO) for the Royal Navy. The Royal Navy will benefit from this partnership as it will receive a rotary frequency converter (RFC) which allows for a reliable, safe, and efficient power transfer to HMS Queen Elizabeth from the national grid. The HMS Queen Elizabeth is considered one of the first of the Royal Navy’s new aircraft carriers from the Porthsmouth Naval Base located in the UK.

The HMS Queen Elizabeth will be the biggest and most powerful surface warship ever to be constructed by the Royal Navy. The warship has a range 10,000 nautical miles, 65,000 ton displacement, and a length of 280 meters.

It has four galleys along with four large dining areas which will be manned by a catering staff of 67. The largest dining room in the warship can fed up to 960 crew members in a span of one hour.

There are also eight bed medical suites managed by eleven medical staff which can be altered to cater to each mission individually.
