Spiralock internal threads are unlike any other. They have transformed the standard thread into a self-locking female thread form equipped with a 30 degree wedge ramp at the root of the thread. It is compatible with standard 60 degree male fasteners. The wedge ramp allows the male fastener to spin freely relative to the female threads until a clamp load is applied. After that occurs, the crest of the standard male threads is drawn tightly against the wedge ramp, thereby manifesting a spiral line of contact that goes along the entire length of the thread engagement. As the clamp load force increases, the wedge ramp pushes against the male thread from all sides, eliminating the radial clearance and the possibility of self-loosening caused by vibration. Spiralock threads eliminate the need for other locking devices, are compatible with standard fasteners, consistently reusable, and improve joint fatigue life.
