Saab Delivers CBRN AWR Automatic Warning and Reporting System to Kuwait

Saab has announced delivery of its Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Automatic Warning and Reporting (AWR) system with mobile detection and surveillance and stationary detection units to a customer in Kuwait. The system provides for the detection, identification, warning, monitoring and reporting of CBRN hazards, giving personnel on the battlefield early warning and enabling faster decision making.

The system, which is a flexible, modular and future-proof solution, can be operated from fixed locations, carried by personnel or mounted on vehicles, the company announced today. This negates the need for specialist CBRN personnel to be employed widely throughout the operational forces, reducing training and personnel management costs. If activated by a CBRN event, an automatic hand-over is made from the stationary system to the mobile, tactical system. The mobile units include pressure-protected light vehicles where the full picture from data collected by the AWR system is displayed on Saab's rugged hardware. The system includes a command and control center, which monitors the entire system 24-hours-a-day. Saab´s 9LAND BMS AWR command and control software is part of the tactical system.
