MARCORSYSCOM Picks Kestrel to Support the USMC Scout Sniper Ballistic Computers Program

Kestrel Weather & Environmental Meters has been awarded a supply contract from the US Marine Corps (USMC) System Command for the work of supplying material solutions for its Scout Sniper Ballistic Computers (SSBC) program. The contract calls for Kestrel to supply the US Marine Corps with 887 Kestrel 4500 meters units. Each of these units are capable of merging precise wind, direction, temperature, pressure, and humidity evaluations with an integrated advanced ballistics computer and bullet performance database.

The 4oz, hand held meter will offer elevation and wind holds for the exact weapon, round, and target features, which will allow the shooter to put first shots on target at approximately 1,000 yards and more. Included with the Kestrel meters is a complete field support kit containing Kestrel 4000 series screen protection kit, Pelican 1015 black case, and Mystery Ranch MOLLE soft case. All weather meters are designed and constructed in Pennsylvania. The Kestrel Kit selected for this contract award is fully Berry Amendment and BUY American Act compliant. Wider adoption of the Kestrel with Applied Ballistics is expected as other services are currently gauging its performance and abilities. The current devices under the award contract will be provided by Kestrel’s long-time authorized Kestrel resale partner, ADS, which is a primary vendor under the Defense Supply Center Special Operations Tailored Logistics Support (TLS) program.
