Diamond with DART 280 Enters in Helicopter Market

On April 6th 2017, there was an article posted to Flight Global by Kate Sarsfield in which she talks about how the Austrian manufacturer Diamond Aircraft, is entering the helicopter market by released the light single piston engine rotorcraft concept called the DART 280.

The company as released this rotorcraft as sees it as a way for the market to be interested in its products. Here is what Christian Dries, the company founder and chief executive has to say about his rotorcraft concept.

"Why not? Diamond has been in the GA market for 30 years and it’s time to try something new."

The DART 280 has four sets which deems this as a small helicopter used for personal use. The DART 280 is lightweight easy to fly and affordable.  The first flight of this helicopter is schedule in about 18 months. There will be a certificate for this which will come 12 months after.

Kate then talks about the different models.

“The line-up will consist of five models: the four-seat 230shp DA50-IV; five-seat 260shp DA50-V; and seven-seat 360shp DA50-VII. The -VII series will be available with a 375shp Lycoming petrol engine and in a turboprop version – powered by an Ivchenko Progress/Motor Sich AI-450S.”
